Regolith Refining Matrix
What regolith actually turns into, and at what rate, before upgrade research.
Regolith is graded by richness, not by density
The Crust does not model ore by specific gravity. Each load of regolith carries a richness value for every oxide plus Slag, and that value decides how much of each output you get. An Extractor placed on an underground ore deposit averages the split below. When regolith of different richnesses is mixed on a belt or in storage, the resulting richness is the weighted average of the inputs, so blending a rich vein into a poor one drags the whole stream toward the average.

On the surface, richness is identified by scanning deposits with the Rover Scout Geological Scanner rather than by drilling first.
Single Regolith Refinery
Pulls one oxide type at a time and returns Slag alongside it. Each of the 3 upgrades adds 25% speed. Rates below are items per minute at full richness for the chosen oxide.

Multi-Regolith Refinery
Separates every oxide at once, so one module replaces several Single units. The catch is that it stops the moment any one output slot fills up, which means all five outputs have to be consumed or stored at production rate.

Each output per min covers Titanium Oxide, Iron Oxide, Silicon Oxide, Aluminum Oxide and Slag, so the Base row yields 12 of each, 5 outputs in total. The community wiki states that in-game upgrade descriptions may be misleading and that Mk.2 output appears to be bugged. Because of that warning, the doubled output column on that wiki page is not reproduced here.
Module cost and load
Power consumption is in the game's own unit, where one unit equals one Megawatt. CPU is the separate compute budget that these modules occupy.

- No specific gravity or density figures, because the game does not model ore that way.
- No doubled output rates, because the community wiki reports the Mk.2 figure may be bugged.
- No ore to ingot conversion ratios for the Smelting Furnace, because those are not documented yet.
- No total base power draw figure, because no such figure is published, which is also why no night storage sizing appears on this site.
Rates read from thecrust.wiki.gg on 2026-09-11. Upgrade research changes them. The wiki is player-maintained rather than a developer specification.
