Belt, Power, Battery & Refinery Calculator

Sizes conveyor belts, generators, battery modules and refinery lines from the game's base values, before upgrade research.

Community-verified figures

Belt, Power & Battery Calculator

Base values only. Reads the community wiki as of 2026-09-11, before upgrade research is applied.

Belt sizing

How many conveyor belts carry a target item rate?

300 items/min range 30 to 1200
Required belt tier Tier 3
Tier speed 300 items/min
Belt build cost each 1750

Tier 5 carries 600 items/min. Rate the whole line to the slowest belt in it.

Power supply sizing

How many generators cover a target draw?

150 MW range 10 to 1800
Units required 5
Delivered peak 150 MW
CPU effect +10

Solar panels only generate during daylight, so a solar-only grid also needs storage sized to the night.

Battery sizing

How long does one Battery module cover a steady draw? The wiki does not publish a lunar-night length, so the result is shown as hours-at-draw rather than night reserves.

10 MW range 1 to 60 (single battery limit is 10 MW discharge)
Hours per Battery module 10.0 h
Batteries needed for 24 h 3
Charge ceiling 50 MW max input

At 10 MW steady draw, one Battery module (100,000 units at 1 MW per unit, capped at 10 MW discharge) lasts 10 hours. The lunar night length is not published by the developer and is not on the community wiki, so this tool does not size for an in-game night.

Refinery line sizing

How many Single Regolith Refineries are needed to feed a target oxide output? Numbers are base production at 100 percent richness of the chosen oxide.

20 oxide/min range 4 to 200
Refineries needed 1
Combined oxide output 20 oxide/min
Combined slag output 20 slag/min
Power draw (6 MW each) 6 MW

Each Single Refinery produces 20 oxide per minute at 100 percent richness. At default 20 percent silicon richness, the wiki example yields 1.6 silicon oxide and 6 slag for every 20 regolith; that ratio is what the Single Regolith Refinery actually delivers and is not recalculated by this tool.

What this tool does not do: the game's lunar night length is not published by the developer or on the community wiki, and no base-level power draw figure is published either, so this page does not compute a night storage requirement. Anything that multiplies your draw by a night duration would be inventing a number.

Belt speeds 60 / 150 / 300 / 450 / 600 items per minute, generator peaks 30 / 75 / 300 / 90 / 16 / 600, Battery capacity 100,000 units with a 10 MW discharge cap, and Single Refinery base production 20 reg -> 20 oxide + 20 slag at 100 percent richness are read from thecrust.wiki.gg on 2026-09-11. Upgrade research and the Multi-Regolith Refinery's doubled-output column change these values.

Logistics & Power FAQs

How many conveyor belt tiers are in The Crust? +

There are 5 tiers. Tier 1 moves 60 items per minute, Tier 2 moves 150, Tier 3 moves 300, Tier 4 moves 450 and Tier 5 moves 600. Building costs rise from 250 for Tier 1 to 7750 for Tier 5. An Underground Conveyor has no speed of its own and runs at the lower speed of whatever tiers you connect to its two sides.

Why does a solar grid still need batteries in The Crust? +

Solar panels only generate during daylight, so anything that must run through the night needs either stored power or a generator that ignores the daylight cycle. Fuel Generator, RTG and Fusion Reactor all fall into that second group. The length of the in-game night is not published by the developer or documented on the community wiki, so this page does not convert your power draw into a storage figure.

How long does one Battery module last? +

The community wiki documents a Battery capacity of 100,000 units at 1 MW per unit, with a discharge cap of 10 MW. At a steady 10 MW draw one Battery module lasts 10 hours; at 5 MW it lasts 20 hours; at 1 MW it lasts 100 hours. The wiki does not publish a lunar night length, so the calculator expresses hours-at-draw rather than night reserves.

How much power does a Fusion Reactor produce? +

The community wiki lists a peak output of 600, the highest of any power source it documents, and describes it as running on energy cells based on Helium-3. The same wiki page notes a CPU value of negative 25, meaning it offsets CPU cost rather than consuming it.

How many Single Regolith Refineries do I need? +

At 100 percent richness of the chosen oxide, each Single Regolith Refinery consumes 20 regolith per minute and produces 20 oxide per minute plus 20 slag per minute, drawing 6 MW. A 60 oxide/min line needs 3 refineries and 18 MW. The wiki flags that the Multi-Regolith Refinery's doubled-output column may be bugged, so this tool sizes against the Single Refinery base.

Which power source should I pick for a fixed draw? +

Divide your draw by the peak output of the source. A 150 MW base needs 5 Large Solar Panels at 300 each, or 2 Fusion Reactors at 600 each, or 10 Fuel Generators at 90 each. Solar also needs storage for the night, while the other three do not.

Where these numbers come from

Belt speeds, building costs, generator peaks and the rule that one power unit equals one Megawatt are read from the community wiki at thecrust.wiki.gg on 2026-09-11. They are base values, so upgrade research will change them.

Two things are deliberately missing. The length of the in-game lunar night is not published by the developer and is not documented on the wiki, and no base-level power draw figure is published either. Without those, any night storage calculation would be inventing a number, so this page does not offer one.

The community wiki is player-maintained, not a developer specification. Treat these as player-documented figures rather than an official spec sheet, and re-check them after any patch.
